MRCP – Magnetic Resonance CholangioPancreatography

Magnetic Resonance CholangioPancreatography (MRCP) is a special kind of MRI scan enabling the physician to visualize and evaluate the gallbladder, liver, bile ducts, pancreas, and pancreatic duct for disease. It is noninvasive and does not use ionizing radiation.

MRCP1-2
MRCP3

MRCP is used to help evaluate tumors, stones, inflammation, or infection, and to evaluate patients with pancreatitis to detect the underlying cause.  The clinical indications are similar to those for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) including calculous disease, neoplasms, congenital anomalies, anatomical variants and inflammatory processes.
