Before your exam

MRI

We provide scrubs for every patient, leave jewelry home. Tell us about pacemakers, implants, aneurysm clips, or metal fragments — some require pre-scan verification. Expect 15–45 minutes of gentle noise (we provide ear protection, we will play your favorite music during the exam).

All Abdomen

This special abdominal MRI needs an empty stomach: nothing to eat or drink for 6 hours before your exam.

CT

Fast 4–6 hours if contrast is planned. Brief warmth or a metallic taste during contrast is normal. Eat and drink normally right after; nursing mothers should pause breastfeeding 24 hours after contrast.

Pregnancy

Tell us if you are or might be pregnant. MRI is generally avoided in the first 12 weeks unless your physicians and radiologist agree it's medically necessary; CT is avoided unless urgent.

Mammography

Skip deodorant, lotion, and powder on exam day; a two-piece outfit makes it easy. Results go to your physician within a few days.

DEXA

No calcium supplements for 24 hours before your scan. Wear comfortable clothing without metal at the waist or hips.
